About Bartaro — The Free Item Exchange Platform

Why we built Bartaro

Because selling is a pain — listing fees, lowball offers, strangers asking "is this still available?" for a week, then going quiet. There had to be a better way.

The problem

Most people have a garage, a wardrobe, or a drawer full of things they don't use anymore. Good things — a bike that's the wrong size, a camera they upgraded from, textbooks from last semester. Selling takes time. Charity shops don't always want what you have. And throwing things away feels wrong.

At the same time, people need things. Not new things — just things. A different bike size, a decent camera to start with, the exact textbook that costs £80 new.

The problem isn't a shortage of stuff. It's that the people who have it and the people who need it can't find each other easily. Bartaro is built to fix that.

How it works

Bartaro is a peer-to-peer item exchange platform. You list what you have, browse what others are offering, and propose a swap — item for item, or with a small cash top-up to balance the value. No selling fees. No middlemen. No auctions.

For trades where you don't know the other person, we offer optional escrow protection — your item is held securely until both sides confirm they're happy. Disputes are handled by our team.

Who's behind it

Bartaro was built by a small team of engineers who got tired of the friction in second-hand marketplaces. We believe the swap economy is better for your wallet and better for the planet — and we're building the platform to make it the default way people exchange things.

We're based online. Our users are everywhere. And we're early — which means if you have feedback, we'll actually read it.
